New Piggyfriend. Baby Orion comes home.

As our readers may be aware, we recently lost our dear Valentine and his brother, Rafael, was lonely. I was watching tv waiting for the Orion spaceship to take off and looked at Pooh Piglets ( our fairly local guinea pig rescue ) where there was a tiny boar needing a new home. Pauline, who runs the rescue asked if anyone had a bereaved boar who needed a new friend so I called her and made an appointment for Rafael and I to go and visit.

You can see him above. I put Rafael into the little pen where Pauline does introductions and she added this tiny fellow. I am not sure if Rafael recognised him as being a guinea pig but he sat and watched as the little babe raced around the pen and he ended up coming home in Rafael's carrier.

Here they are at home sharing Rafael's pen. He is a huge 3 pound porker and the little babe is so tiny but they seem to be friends although Rafael is unsure whether he is a hamster or a baby piggy. I reminded Rafael that he and Valentine were this size when they arrived but he was not so sure.

It seemed fitting to name the little fellow Orion so please welcome him.

In sad news, when we arrived at Pooh Piglets it was to see a For Sale sign outside Pauline's house. Her piggy boarding shed around the back was completely empty and the shed where she has the ones for adoption had hardly any hutches left. Pauline is moving to Lincolnshire to be near her family so Orion was one of the last piggies to be adopted and two families that arrived after us were coming for the others.

She is taking her own piggies with her but Pooh Piglets, where most of the Piggyfriends originated, is no more. All good things come to an end but this is the third time that this has happened to us with Cavies' Castle also moving to Linconshire and Palace Piggies relocating to Yorkshire. We also adopted the last two piggies from Palace Piggies when that closed. Deja Vu all over again.
