Mummy has now decided that Ghost is not an Agouti or an Argente she has now decided he is a Silver Chinchilla.
Me told you he wasnt very piggy like, oh a silver chinchilla is a breed of piggy hmmmm.
Ok here is what me has found out about silver Chinchillas.
They are an Agouti fox, the undercolour is grey and the ticking is white (longer than normal ticking) they should have white eye circles, and a white belly, dark ruby eyes and dark grey ears.
Well that description does match Ghost exactly so maybe Mummy is right this time.
Ghost still has that side patch though, so he is not show quality, so there!!!

The Importance of Eating Hay
Hay should make up about 80% of a guinea pigs diet.
Hay is essential to make our piggy toothies "work", because they are constantly growing our toothies need to be worn down to prevent them over growing, because hay is tough and requires lots of chewing it wears toothies down nicely.
The Guineapigalopaedia recommends that hay should be at least 3 months old to allow for drying yet still slightly green, me has no idea how you tell how old your hay is.
Hay should be dry and free from dust and mould and fresh smelling.
Hay should be stored in a cool dry place off the floor, Mummy keeps ours in the garage.
The indigestible fibres in hay help keep your tummy working properly (Mummy says the human equivalent would be something like All Bran)
The best hays for eating are Timothy hay and Meadow hay.
For young, pregnant, nursing or ill piggies Alfalfa hay can be helpful. This should not be fed to healthy adult piggies due to high calcium and protein content. Small quanties as a supplement should be ok but not as main food.
The best hay for bedding is soft hay as opposed to stalky hay which can poke you.
Green hay has more minerals and Vitamin A and E.
Brown hay has more Vitamin D from being in sun longer but has less good stuff in it.
Check out Galens Garden Hay section for lots of information.

Mind Control
Daddy thought he was being clever when he set up mii's on the wii for me and Ghost.
He wasnt clever he was under my control heehee
Now when the humans are out me and Ghost can have fun playing all the games.
We like mario karts best.
My mii made Daddy crash when he was racing.
The fun a pig can have.......
We have avoided the wii fit!!!

Daring Dalmation
Agent 101 is a Dalmation, although there are breed standards for Dalmation we think they must be quiet rare as they have what is known as the fatal gene.
Dalmations and Roans should never be bred with another Dalmation or Roan as this causes horrible birth defects, this is because the gene for the Dalmation/ Roan coat is recessive.
Dalmations and Roans are genetically the same but the colour markings vary.
Many countries dont recognise Dalmations as a show breed.
Dalmations have white hair with coloured spots, feet and head, although the head has a central white blaze along the nose.
The official colours for a Dalmation are Self, Agouti and Argente.
To breed a Dalmation you need a piggy of your chosen colour and a Dalmation, the litter will always contain one self.
Agent 101 was a surplus boar from a litter, we are sure he much prefers his new home.
Agent 101 is a master of mind control he only needs to think of carrots and his Mummy runs to get them for him
Here he is with his best friend Agent Thorntons

Guest Number 14
Agent 101 is a boy from a mixed herd in the UK, again he is not a dolly mixture but a "proper" breed.
He joined his new herd as an excess boar from a litter.
Agent 101 takes his name from a famous book written by Dodie Smith.
His real name is also the name of a famous English Chef
Good luck

Our First Good Cause
You may have noticed me has added a new category Charitable Works here we will post about things everyone can do to help poor rescue piggies.
Today we are helping Bobtails Rescue.
By using Easy Search when you search the internet (instead of Yahoo or Google etc) money is donated to Bobtails if you shop online you can also use Easy Fundraising to help raise more money, check it out lots of big companies like Amazon will donate a % of your purchase price to the rescue without it costing you a penny.
Me not sure if this works overseas but definetely does in the UK
If you want your good cause mentioning (rescue open days etc) leave a comment in this section or email me details and me will add it.

Toothie Problems
Like us guinea pigs, humans can also suffer from problems with their toothies.
Mummy is suffering at the moment, luckily for her the toothie problems have not stopped her eating.
Mummy had to go to the dentist (like a vet but for human teeth) she had to have a filling, she is also waiting for hospital appointment to remove her wisdom tooth that is growing side ways under the gum.
As if that wasnt enough, once she has got all that sorted she needs root canal work and a cap for a tooth that has split.
Poor Mummy
Me is glad my toothies are good!!

What Type of Guinea Pig is Your Human
Daddy has decided that he would be a short haired brown piggy with 1 white sock and a playful attention seeking attitude.
Mummy would be a white peruvian with a tendency to bite and dominate.
So what would your human be?

Grrrrrrr
Me hates puters now as well.
The puter forgot who we were again and so we lost all our stuff, luckily we had backed it up.
We had backed up everything apart from Mummies Ipod library so she has to spend hours reloading all the music again. Good job she didnt throw away the CD's.
Windows Vista pah brrrrrrrrrrr not impressed

Me Is Fed Up
With the Big Freeze
Tuesday night Mummy could see some grass in the garden, Wednesday morning it was all white again. Today it looks like it is melting but weather woman says more ice to come.
Me wants summer to come so me can go and munch the grass again.
How is the weather for all you other agents?

Cutey Cream
Agent Frothy is a self cream, me thinks she looks like she could be my sister.
Dont let Mummy know she has a thing for us blonde piggies.
The breed standard for a self cream says you should have red eyes, pink ears and pads and be a devon cream colour.
Common problems in getting the cream colour right are that if the top of the hair is the right colour the bottom is often too dark.
If the bottom of the hair is the right colour the top of the hair is too pale.
See its a complicated job being this cute.
Us dolly mixes dont care, so there wheeeek

Silky Sheltie
Here in the UK agent Carrot would be known as a Sheltie while in the US he would be know as a Silkie, confusing huh.
Shelties are a long haired variety of guinea pig, his Mummy cuts his hair (me thinks me would make a better hairdresser!!)
Sheltie hair can be any colour but it must be swept back from the face, the mane sweeps back to join the sweep and there must be no parting, the shoulder hair should fall evenly around the sides and the sweep hair (thats butt hair to you and me) should be longer than the sides and fall over the hind quarters.
The face should have short hair, the hair of a Sheltie is not as dense as that of a peruvian.
The Sheltie breed was originally developed by breeding a peruvian with a self black.
Show Shelties have to keep their hair in wrappers to stop it getting chewed and mucky.
Here is Agent Carrot
Agent Carrot please can you report your story for us.

Agent Carrot is a boy member of a mixed herd in the UK
He joined the herd with his brother when his previous owners marriage broke up
We dont know why he chose the name Agent Carrot, maybe its his favourite food?
His real name is English in orgin and means Noble Ruler and is the same as Agent Dinosaur, no cheating and looking at the archives.
Guess now

New Years Resolutions
On the 31st December the humans have a traditon of making resolutions for the following year.
A resolution is like a promise.
Me has come up with a few resolutions for next year.
1) Me will try not to pull Ghost's ear no matter how tempting it is.
2) Me will try not to bite Daddy's fingers, even when he sticks them through the cage and wiggles them.
3) Me will try not to scare Mummy any more and put lots of weight on
What are your resolutions?

A Look Back At 2009
Well the biggest things that happened to me in 2009 were
Me started my blog
Me got a little brother
The rest of the year has been spent eating, sleeping and pooping.
