Look what they've done to our grass!

This is a photo of a field where Slave often collects lovely fresh grass for us. It sometimes contains dandelions too.

This heatwave just goes on and on and we have had enough of it ( so has Slave ). She just managed to find a little bit of rather dried grass around the edge where there is a bit of shade from the horrible sun. It was not up to our usual standard but needs must.....

We have a new PigPenPal.

We have just had an email from our one time Junior Slave, who has adopted another piggy to be a friend for Rin, Maki and Nico so we have a new PigPenPal.

She is called Noodle. She was bought as a present for a little girl, who dearly wanted a piggy but she proved to be allergic so Noodle was surrendered to the Humane Society where Junior Slave works.

It is TOO hot!

We are having a heatwave here in SE England. It is far too hot to do anything. We cannot go out on the grass and Slave has fans all around us indoors but it is still too hot for our liking.

Magnus Piggyfriend thinks that it is far too hot to sit in the haybox so maybe it will be cooler to have a nap in this tube.

Slave is having difficulty cutting fresh grass for us. Her friend, Roly, is mowing all the grass in his fields for hay and what is left has all gone to seed. Plenty of stalks but no nice, green blades of grass.

Just as well that our supermarket has lots of lovely fresh veggies instead but Magnus is too hot to finish his carrot.

A Piggy A - Z. F is for Friend

We have not been able to take any pigtures for the blog until today as Slave has been out and about and she took her camera with her but today she is at work again so we have pigtures to share.

Us piggies are social animals and, much as we appreciate the love of a kind Slave, nothing beats the friendship of another piggy.

We Love Carrots!

Hey Honeydew do you think our slave can take a video of us eating
carrots? No way says Squirly. Our slave is not as smart as her smart
phone. Oh well maybe you can convince her to post a picture of us eating
carrots from the Piggyville garden. Ok says Squirly. Honeydew thinks to
herself...I am such a smart piggy. I have all the carrots for myself.
Squirly returns and says "What happened to the carrots"? I left the tops
for you they are the best part replies Honeydew.

New Bedding for the Big Boys

A New Bed for Ted

Regular readers may remember a few months ago a new addition joined the Piggypals a little ginger teddy guinea pig called Ted.

At first everything went well Ted was put in quarantine for 2 weeks and then after 2 weeks had passed and he was not ill he was allowed to join us big boys. Things were OK for a couple of weeks and then Ted decided he did not like Hugo in fact he really didn't like Hugo and some serious fighting broke out.

This meant that the humans had to seperate Ted us from us which also meant that Mummy had to make Ted some new bedding as he is only a baby she decided he would like Ladybirds you can see how his fleece looks below.

Ted now lives in a seperate cage next to us where he can see, smell and talk to us but not get at Hugo.

We do spend time in the same run in the garden as the grass provides a distraction for everyone but this is under strict human supervision and if it looks like problems may start Mummy or Daddy will remove either Ted or Hugo.

Yeah White Clover Flowers!!!!!

Honeydew and Squirly reporting from Piggyville. Our slave tried to trick
us into eating purple clover flowers. Honeydew would not even look at
the purple flowers. Hey Mom you can't fool us. We have sophisticated
tastes. You can see by the look on our faces and the white flowers in
our mouths that we love white clover flowers. Ah!! springtime in
Swannanoa North Carolina. Munch, Munch, Munch......

Love. Nugget here. My older brother, Eddie (on the left) hasn't been
feeling so well lately, and my mom has been taking him to the vet a lot.
The other day I wanted to show him support, so I rested with him, and,
well, I thought if I looked just like him, he would feel better. He is
an amazing brother and friend.

Happy First Birthday to Piggyville Girls

Squirly and Honeydew celebrated their first birthday at Piggyville in
North Carolina by romping and chomping away in a clover patch. "Where
are all the clover flowers?" asked Squirly the silver agouti. Honeydew
replied, "Remember our slave did not sew the clover until October".
"This means we will not have any yummy flowers until late May." Oh well
at least we have plenty of clover, lots of love and a forever home.

May Day

Slave went out into the garden to pick some May flowers so that one of the Piggyfriend girls could be May Queen for the day. This is what she found.

We have a very long hedge in our garden, which contains many hawthorns but, because of the very long winter and miserable cold spring, there was not a single blossom to be found. Eeek!

"Sorry girls, " said Slave. " No May Queen this year but maybe you might like a substitute? I have lots of dandelion flowers."

" I would not mind being Dandelion Queen instead," says Mimi.

" I can eat these but I am not sure that May is edible. These are yummy!"

Slave tells us that humans can eat the leaves of hawthorn. When she was little, they were called bread and cheese trees. We much prefer dandelions. More please. We all want to be Dandelion Queens and Kings.

Today is Otto's 7 1/2th. birthday

After we get to be 5 years old, henceforth our Slave celebrates our "Half Birthdays" as well as our real ones. I was born on October 28th. 2010 so today is my 7 1/2th. birthday.

Here is a pigture of me enjoying my birthday breakfast with my best friend, Niamh. I am too old for toys like chubes but I do love my grass and my friend.

"Happy Half Birthday Otto" say the Piggyfriends. "Happy Half Birthday sweetie" says Slave.

Happy First Birthday to our Pigpenpals

Our Pigpenpals, Maki and Niko, in Connecticut have just celebrated their first brithday.

Here they are, all in a heap with their mama, Rin. Can you tell where one pig ends and the other begins? No, we cannot either! Rin is nearly 3lbs. in weight. She could have been a LAPS piggy with a few more carrots.

Anyone remember the LAPS? Large and Ample Pig Society. Our late Daisy was one time President.

Nugget is 3!

Hello, I am Nugget and I am 3 today, April 20. I have never been 3
before, so it will be a new adventure for me. I live with my older
brother, Eddie, who is a wonderful brother, and cucumber is one of my
favorite foods. In fact, my mom had to give me a cucumber piece as my
modeling fee. I hope you enjoy my pigture.
