Do you think......

...........that if I sit on my food bowl, Slave will think that it is empty and put more in it?

"Do not worry about my eyes," says Magnus Piggyfriend." I was born with small eyes but I can see very well and this does not prevent me getting around."

Imitation is the sincerest form of ...

Love. Nugget here. My older brother, Eddie (on the left) hasn't been
feeling so well lately, and my mom has been taking him to the vet a lot.
The other day I wanted to show him support, so I rested with him, and,
well, I thought if I looked just like him, he would feel better. He is
an amazing brother and friend.

Happy First Birthday to Piggyville Girls

Squirly and Honeydew celebrated their first birthday at Piggyville in
North Carolina by romping and chomping away in a clover patch. "Where
are all the clover flowers?" asked Squirly the silver agouti. Honeydew
replied, "Remember our slave did not sew the clover until October".
"This means we will not have any yummy flowers until late May." Oh well
at least we have plenty of clover, lots of love and a forever home.

May Day

Slave went out into the garden to pick some May flowers so that one of the Piggyfriend girls could be May Queen for the day. This is what she found.

We have a very long hedge in our garden, which contains many hawthorns but, because of the very long winter and miserable cold spring, there was not a single blossom to be found. Eeek!

"Sorry girls, " said Slave. " No May Queen this year but maybe you might like a substitute? I have lots of dandelion flowers."

" I would not mind being Dandelion Queen instead," says Mimi.

" I can eat these but I am not sure that May is edible. These are yummy!"

Slave tells us that humans can eat the leaves of hawthorn. When she was little, they were called bread and cheese trees. We much prefer dandelions. More please. We all want to be Dandelion Queens and Kings.

Today is Otto's 7 1/2th. birthday

After we get to be 5 years old, henceforth our Slave celebrates our "Half Birthdays" as well as our real ones. I was born on October 28th. 2010 so today is my 7 1/2th. birthday.

Here is a pigture of me enjoying my birthday breakfast with my best friend, Niamh. I am too old for toys like chubes but I do love my grass and my friend.
That is me on the left.

"Happy Half Birthday Otto" say the Piggyfriends. "Happy Half Birthday sweetie" says Slave.

Happy First Birthday to our Pigpenpals

Our Pigpenpals, Maki and Niko, in Connecticut have just celebrated their first brithday.
Here they are, all in a heap with their mama, Rin. Can you tell where one pig ends and the other begins? No, we cannot either! Rin is nearly 3lbs. in weight. She could have been a LAPS piggy with a few more carrots.

Anyone remember the LAPS? Large and Ample Pig Society. Our late Daisy was one time President.

Happy Birthday little ones with many more to come.

Nugget is 3!

Hello, I am Nugget and I am 3 today, April 20. I have never been 3
before, so it will be a new adventure for me. I live with my older
brother, Eddie, who is a wonderful brother, and cucumber is one of my
favorite foods. In fact, my mom had to give me a cucumber piece as my
modeling fee. I hope you enjoy my pigture.

Where are you Martin?

"Where are you Martin?" asks Fernando. " I cannot see you!"
" I cannot find you Fernando!" says Martin. " Why are you hiding from me?"

"There you are!" say both Piggyfriends to each other. " Someone had knocked over our tunnel and I could not see you behind it." says Martin. " Slave has stood it up again and given us this lovely grass. Let's eat." replies Fernando. " When we were piglets we used to sit beside each other in our tunnel to eat. It must have shrunk." says Martin.

Happy Easter Everyone

Look what the Easter Bunny has brought.

"I am not sure that I want to eat those" says Carter Piggyfriend. " Shall I give them to our Slave? She loves chocolate."

" I think that I would prefer that lettuce."

" On behalf of the Piggyfriends and our Slave, Penny, I would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter. I hope that your Slaves get lots of Easter Eggs."

Happy St.Patrick's Day.

On behalf of all the Piggyfriends, Agent Diva 1 aka Lulu wishes everyone a happy St. Patrick's Day.
I do not mind wearing Slave's shamrock necklace but I do not think that I want to try the earrings. I am sorry that I have left some bits of my coat on your jumper but it is a small price to pay for me posing so nicely. You did not think that I would do that did you Slave? You thought that I would rush off and hide under the table!

Candle Post

Hello This is the first time I have tried to post to the blog. I hope
this works out. Cheers, Ann of Piggyville

March 9th 2018: The Peter Gurney Light That Went Around the World

Honeydew and Squirly of Piggyville in Swannanoa, North Carolina USA lit
a candle in memory of their Hero Peter Gurney. Our slave reads to us at
bedtime. Peter Gurney's book "The Last of Their Kind" is our favourite
bedtime story. His guinea pigs actually wrote the book. We never get
tired of hearing Sarah, Iggy, Ruby, Dusty, Dennis and Free Range Jake
give their views of what life was like living with Peter. We are sure
that many slaves would enjoy a book written by Peter's piggys too.

Candle Lighting 2018

On the 9th. March at 8 pm. members of the GPDD light candles in memory of the piggies who are at the Rainbow Bridge as well as other pets and humans who are, sadly, no longer with us.

We usually ask our eldest Piggyfriend to light our candles so here is our beloved Otto doing the honours.

Below is another photo in which you can see him with his best friend Niamh. She was our candle lighter last year as our Slave was away on holiday so it was down to our pigsitter to be our photographer and he picked Niamh as he knew that she would sit still and not set fire to her whiskers.

Finally here is a better view of our candles, which were rather obscured by our candle lighters.

If any of our readers lit candles and would like us to post their pigtures, please get in touch at the usual address ( see Contribute ).

A Piggy A-Z. F is for Fans

We hate the winter, when the grass struggles to grow and we have to be indoors all the time because it is too wet and cold so we are reminiscing today.

It does not get hot very often in England but we do have a few days when it is too warm for us ( and for Slave ) so we have lots of fans around the house to keep us all cool.

In the pig room ( Slave calls it her conservatory but there are nearly as many piggies in it as plants ) we have a ceiling fan as the roof is glass and it lets in too much heat. Here it is.

It is nice and quiet and is also our light at night.

We also have several floor fans and you can see one of them below.
The towels stop us being in a draught but the cool air can circulate. That is me, Louis Piggyfriend, eating from my bowl. Otto and Niamh live next door to me but they are behind the towel and you cannot see them.

Slave tells us that, on milder days, the grass is beginning to grow but that it is very muddy in the garden after the snow has melted and we have had a lot rain today but we all look forward to going out to pick our own grass in the summer.

A Piggy A-Z. F is for Frozen!

"Come and look out of the window," calls Niamh Piggyfriend. "Everything is frozen!"

"Where has our grass gone?" ask the rest of the Piggyfriends. " We cannot see it at all."

"Don't worry," replies Otto.  "That white stuff is called snow. It is just frozen rain. It does not happen very often here but I can remember seeing it when I was a piglet."

" When it gets warmer, it will all melt and we will be able to see our garden again. In the meantime, Slave has bought us bags of veggies to eat."

We expect that lots of readers are used to snow in winter but it is a novelty to us in SE England. We know that Aunty Pat's Prairie Piggies have loads of snow in winter.

A Piggy A-Z. F is for Freaking out in the bath.

Slave decided that it was time for me, Carter Piggyfriend and my friends, Saoirse and Aoife to have a shampoo. Some of us enjoy this and some do not as you will see from the following photos.

This is me ( above ). I love a shampoo and you can see me relaxing in the bath whilst the lather from the shampoo does its stuff.
On the other hand, some pigs "F for Freak out" when it is bath time and above you can see my friends who, after several laps of the bath that Slave calls the "Wall of Death" have tried to hide in a rolled up rubber bath mat. You might think that sows would take a pride in their appearance and appreciate a spa treatment but not these two.

Afterwards we were all bundled up in soft towels to dry off. You can only just see me but my girls have buried themselves in the towels and you will have to take my word for it that they are there. Instead of them, here is a plug for our F for Favourite shampoo. Wonderful for piggies and all pets.

And here I am, back in my pen, nice and clean and F for Fluffy. I think that I will tear a bit more from my box. I do enjoy some F for Fun.
Here is Saoirse recovering from the shock of that bath.
And here is Aoife. They enjoy tearing up the boxes too as you can see.Luckily there seems to be an infinite supply of new ones. I wonder where they come from?
